Step 1 — assess your mare honestly
- Studbook and pedigree analysis
- Character and health
- Previous sport history
- Be honest: is this a suitable broodmare?
Step 2 — choose the stallion
Not the most expensive, but the most complementary. What does your mare lack and what does this stallion bring? Seek advice from studbooks (KWPN/NRPS) and fellow breeders.
Step 3 — health check
Have the cycle checked, uterine ultrasound, possible swabs. Better to spend €200 upfront than waste an entire insemination cycle.
Step 4 — insemination and follow-up
With the EquiSight Breeding module you track heat cycles, insemination, ultrasounds (15, 30, 45 days) and all pregnancy checks in one timeline. Far better than loose notes on the calendar.
Step 5 — prepare for foaling
Clean foaling stable, vet emergency number on hand, alarm monitoring. Has your mare foaled before? How did it go?
