Different types of livery
- DIY livery — everything yourself: feeding, mucking out, pasture rotation
- Part livery — feeding and turnout shared
- Full livery — everything taken care of
- All-in livery — incl. coaching, training, transport
What does a good contract cover?
- Monthly fee and what is/is not included
- Notice period
- Liability in case of injuries
- Care when you are on holiday
- Use of the arena, mounting block, and lunging area
- Rules regarding visits and guests
- Final settlement upon departure
Key considerations for your horse
Always assess: the quality of the hay, turnout frequency, facilities (arena, paddock, lunging area), socialisation with other horses, and the general atmosphere among stable companions. Not just the price.
