Different types of livery

  • DIY livery — everything yourself: feeding, mucking out, pasture rotation
  • Part livery — feeding and turnout shared
  • Full livery — everything taken care of
  • All-in livery — incl. coaching, training, transport

What does a good contract cover?

  • Monthly fee and what is/is not included
  • Notice period
  • Liability in case of injuries
  • Care when you are on holiday
  • Use of the arena, mounting block, and lunging area
  • Rules regarding visits and guests
  • Final settlement upon departure

Key considerations for your horse

Always assess: the quality of the hay, turnout frequency, facilities (arena, paddock, lunging area), socialisation with other horses, and the general atmosphere among stable companions. Not just the price.
