The evening before

  • Trailer/truck fuelled and checked
  • Equipment laid out in order
  • Stabling kit packed (hay, water, bucket, manure)
  • Documents — passport, entry confirmation, vaccination up to date
  • Competition clothing ironed
  • Alarm set, weather forecast checked

The morning itself

  • Have a proper breakfast yourself
  • Feed and water your horse calmly
  • Plaiting (if required by class)
  • Load calmly, don't stress
  • Leave on time — allow 30 min buffer

On location

  • Check entry registration and start list first
  • Give your horse time to rest after transport
  • Warm up 30–40 min before your test/course
  • Equipment according to regulations (spurs, bit, harness)
  • Keep yourself and your horse hydrated

After the test

  • Collect your test sheet or result — scan it directly into EquiSight
  • Cool down your horse, water, dry rug
  • Make a brief note about how it went
  • Reward and praise — for yourself too
