How often should the farrier come?

On average every 6–8 weeks. With shoes it can be a bit shorter; barefoot can sometimes go a little longer. Stay consistent — EquiSight automatically sends you reminders.

Shoes or barefoot?

Both can work well, depending on the horse, the discipline, and the stable/pasture conditions. Discuss the options with your farrier.

Signs of hoof problems

  • Irregular gait
  • Pulsating digital arteries
  • Heat in the hoof
  • Cracks or crumbling
  • Foul-smelling thrush
